CUISINART RECALLS 25,000 7-CUP FOOD PROCESSORS

According to a report by the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Cuisinart has issued a recall of around 25,000 of its seven-cup food processor products.

The highly successful kitchenware company decided on the recall after it determined that the product posed a laceration hazard to consumers. One incident was reported in which the consumer was struck by a piece of the processor’s plastic cover that had broken off upon being hit by the reversible slicing/shredding disc. Although the consumer did not need any medical attention, the potential for future incidents with more serious outcomes prompted Cuisinart to recall the product.

The defective food processors can be identified by their model numbers. Affected models include MFP-107, MFP-107BC, MFP-107BCWS, MFP-107BK, MFP-107BKWS, MFP-107DCWS, MFP-107MGSLT, MFP-107MR, and MFP-107WS. The model number can be found on the bottom of the processor’s base. A Cuisinart label is located on the front.

The defective processors were sold at Best Buy, Dillards, J.C. Penney, Macy’s, Sears, Williams-Sonoma, and many other stores all across the nation. They were also sold online at Amazon.com and Zappos.com. The purchase price of these products was around $100.

All consumers are advised to arrest all usage of the defective food processors and request free replacement parts from Cuisinart.
