The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has asked that consumers immediately stop using Bodum rose gold glass coffee presses purchased at Starbucks due to burn and laceration hazards. There have been reports of the glass carafe falling out of the metal frame and shattering. The broken glass can result in severe lacerations and the hot water used in the press can result in scalding injuries.

The CPSC reports that about 28,000 of the Bodum rose gold Chambord locking lid 8-cup glass coffee presses have been recalled. The recall was issued after Bodum received about 14 reports of broken and shattered glass carafes that separated from the metal frame. Of the four people injured by this defective product, two suffered lacerations and two sustained burn injuries.

Consumers have been asked to stop using the recalled devices right away and to return them to the Starbucks where they were purchased for a full refund. Those who have suffered an injury while using the defective product, however, may be able to seek financial compensation for their injuries.
