Northern California Ranks Poorly among Nation’s Best Drivers

New results released from Allstate Insurance Company’s yearly “America’s Best Drivers Report” indicate that California drivers have a lot of catching up to do in comparison with those around the nation. The eighth annual report ranks America’s 200 largest cities based on car crash frequency to show which have the safest drivers.

Of California cities listed, northern California cities fared poorly, with San Jose ranked 146 with an average of 8.1 years between crashes for drivers, San Francisco at 186 with 6.5 years, and Sacramento at 143 with 8.2 years. These rates are a far cry from the nation’s top ranked cities, with Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Boise, Idaho coming in at first and second place with 13.8 years between crashes.
