NHTSA REPORTS FORD RECALL OF 355,000 VEHICLES

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Ford announced a recall that affects nearly 355,000 vehicles that were originally sold or are presently registered in 22 states and the District of Columbia. The recalled auto products include 2005-2011 Ford Crown Victoria, Mercury Grand Marquis, and Lincoln Town Car models.

Consumers who live in areas with high frequency of corrosion may encounter the seizure and collapse of integral shafts within the affected vehicles, causing the separation of the steering column’s lower bearing. This may lead to a serious auto accident due to the loss of steering.

Owners and dealers of the recalled models are advised to have their vehicles undergo inspections, repairs, and replacements if necessary, all of which Ford will provide free of charge. The recall, numbered 13S08, will be initiated around late October.
