LISTERIA-CONTAMINATED BAGGED SALADS RECALLED NATIONWIDE

What began as a food recall in California and Colorado has recently become a nationwide alert as bagged salads by River Ranch Fresh Foods, LLC have been designated as dangerous due to Listeria contamination. According to WebMD Health News, consumers should be on the lookout for the recalled products and check all potentially-affected products they may have in their home.

There are a large variety of bagged salads sold under many different brand names that are affected by this recall. Affected brand names include Farm Stand, Shurfresh, River Ranch, Hy-Vee, Sysco, and The Farmer’s Market, and products range from coleslaw to lettuce bags, and the bags come in various sizes. However, all affected products have either a “best by” date from May 12 through May 22 or a Julian date between 116 and 125, which can be found in the top right corner of the bags.

Listeria food poisoning symptoms are very similar to a serious case of the flu, with victims experiencing nausea, abdominal pain, stiffness, high fever, and severe headache.
