Meet Attorney Paul Caputo

Paul Caputo, Esq.

Founding Partner, Senior Trial Attorney

Born and raised in San Jose, CA, Paul Caputo has a long and successful history in courtrooms throughout Northern and Central California of fighting for injured victims against insurance companies and their clients.

Paul follows in the footsteps of his father, Richard Caputo, who was considered by many to be one of the best trial lawyers of his time. Paul speaks of his father’s influence on his practice and says, “Watching my father, I learned how to maintain a professional and high ethical standard while still negotiating in good faith on behalf of my clients.”

The verdict led to a change in the policy that resulted in the injury of hundreds of disabled wheelchair riders. It was lauded by multiple disabled groups as it vastly improved safety for all passengers riding transit buses and will save taxpayers millions of dollars. Paul has also been recognized as the Santa Clara County Trial Lawyer of the Year.

Paul Caputo’s Community Involvement & Special Honors

In addition to his advocacy for personal injury victims, Paul has made a name for himself in the Northern California legal community. During his time as a personal injury attorney, he has taken on a variety of unique and prestigious roles, including:

  • Past-President of the Santa Clara County Trial Lawyers Association
  • Guest lecturer for numerous legal organizations
  • Published author and contributor for various area newspapers and news outlets
  • Professor of Torts at Lincoln University Law School
  • Who’s Who of Rising Young Americans Honoree
  • Member of the Santa Clara University Board of Fellows
  • AV Rating from Martindale-Hubbell as “an attorney of exemplary reputation who has a significant client base and high professional standing”

As a company with a large employment base and a favorable image in that area, Foster Farms offered the client zero dollars in a case that involved a laborer developing respiratory complications after exposure to anhydrous ammonia fumes that leaked from a Foster Farms facility. After nearly three years of unsuccessful negotiations and tens of thousands of dollars spent on behalf of the client, Caputo took the case before a jury in Stanislaus County and received a verdict totaling nearly a quarter of a million dollars.

Caputo has also successfully taken on the San Jose Police Department, auto manufacturers and major insurance companies. Following a rear-end auto accident, Caputo settled a case against an auto manufacturer for $5.825 million in representing a client left with quadriplegia from injuries caused largely because the seat installed in her car was defective.

And he settled a case against the San Jose Police Department for $1.13 million for a client left with Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD), now commonly referred to as Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), after she was rear-ended by a SJPD officer. He also successfully resolved a case for $3,000,000.00 for a client who developed CRPS as a result of an injury suffered while on-board a Santa Clara Valley Transportation bus. Recently, he settled a case for a client suffering brain damage for over $8,000,000.00.

After spending tens of thousands of dollars on behalf of the client, Paul took the case before a jury in Stanislaus County and received a verdict totaling nearly a quarter of a million dollars.
